Faith Church boasts a very active group of ladies dedicated primarily to machine-sewing blankets for those in need around the world. This strong world relief group, begun in 2009, is made up of both Faith members and members of the community.
Working through the Canadian Lutheran World Relief, the group gathers in the church basement each Tuesday throughout the year. Almost all of the fabrics used are donated, as are many of the sewing machines. Other sewing machines have been purchased through a Trillium grant.
Blankets are destined for places like Mauritania, Nicaragua, and Zambia. Africa is heavily supported. The group also makes up rolled bandages and We Care kits. Since 2012, it has been involved in the CLWR Baling Days. Volunteers sort, fold, bale, and load a shipping container destined for an overseas area in need.
