Don’t forget Scout Sunday – February 25, 2018!

Advice for Lent

Fast from criticism and feast on praise,
Fast from self-pity and feast on joy.
Fast from ill-temper and feast on peace,
Fast from jealousy and feast on Love.
Fast from pride and feast on humility.
Fast from selfishness and feast on service.
Fast from fear and feast on faith.

Our Scouting group continues to collect ‘returnable bottles’ to assist with programs and camps. Please contact Jane Redin 519 758-6767 to arrange for pick up if unable to bring to the church.

December 2017

As part of the Canadian Path program for our Scouting youth, they get to experience all kinds of adventures.  The climbing wall at the Boys & Girls Club gives the Beavers the chance to earn their Outdoor Adventure Skill – Vertical Skills Level 1-2.  They discuss safety, overcome fears and have accomplishments, while building self esteem.

October 2017

I am pleased to say we’ve been very successful at getting ‘new’ Scouter support for our two younger sections. It’s like a breath of fresh air with the talents these volunteer bring to our program. Five are active on the floor working with the youth and 2 in a pending role (soon to be active).

We have 18 Beaver Scouts and still growing. They are preparing for their Investiture ceremony and working on the S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) projects.

Cub Scouts have been busy with a fun and exciting Investiture ceremony and making leather woggles. The Parents enjoyed watching and help during this special occasion.

Scouts have already done two outings. Bike hike along the Lorne Bridge area and backpack hike. Guess you know what there next endeavor wants to be? Yup, an overnight backpack bike hike. We’re hoping to get this in before the winter.

Venturer Scouts are meeting as a Brant Area group with 5 other groups joining in and making plans. It’s a lot easier planning with more participants and also get to know other youth in the area.

All of our sections will be participating in the Annual Apple Day campaign and appreciate all your support AND get a delicious apple as THANKS.

Also, if interested we also have sign up sheets for our once a year Popcorn Campaign. Your orders will arrive before Christmas, so you can do some shopping early.
