Word
First Reading: Colossians 2:6-15
Response: Word of God, Word of life, Thanks be to God.
Psalm: 138 (Read Responsively)
I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart;
Before the gods I sing your praise;
On the day I called, you answered me;
You increased my strength of soul.
All the kings of the earth shall praise you, O Lord,
For they have heard the words of your mouth.
They shall sing of the ways of the Lord,
For great is the glory of the Lord.
For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly,
But the haughty he perceives from far away.
Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
You preserve me against the wrath of my enemies;
You stretch out your hand,
And your right hand delivers me.

Thanksgiving for the Word
Canticle of Thanksgiving: p.219
Thanksgiving for the Word:
Almighty God,
we thank you for the gift of your holy word.
May it be a lantern to our feet, a light upon our paths,
and a strength to our lives.
Take us and use us to love and serve all people
The Word of life which was from the beginning
we proclaim to you.
The darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining; the Word of life which was from the beginning.
That which we heard, which we saw with our eyes,and touched with our hands, we proclaim to you.
For our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. The Word of life, which was from the beginning, we proclaim to you. Amen
