Gathering Hymn: ELW 641 All Are Welcome Verses. 1 & 5

Prayer of the Day:

Let us pray together the prayer of the day,

Eternal God,

You draw near to us in Christ and you make yourself our Guest. Amid all the worrisome and gladsome cares of our lives, make us attentive to you. So that we may treasure your word above all else.

First Reading: Colossians 1:15-20

INFO: This writing talks about the invisible nature of God. God’s touch is a part of all creation and God’s spirit permeates all time and space. God holds everything together and makes peace with the suffering of humanity through Jesus’ death on the cross.

Response to Reading: Word of God, Word of life, Thanks be to God.

Psalm: 15 (Read Responsively)

O Lord, who may abide in your tent?
    Who may dwell on your holy hill?

Those who walk blamelessly and do what is right
    and speak the truth from their heart;

who do not slander with their tongue
    and do no evil to their friends
    nor heap shame upon their neighbors;

in whose eyes the wicked are despised
    but who honor those who fear the Lord;
    who stand by their oath even to their hurt;

who do not lend money at interest
    and do not take a bribe against the innocent.

Those who do these things shall never be moved.

Gospel Acclamation: Lord, Let My Heart Be Good Soil ELW #512

Gospel: Luke 10:35-42

Response: Glory to you, O Lord.

Response to Reading: The Gospel of the Lord, Praise to you, O Christ.

Hymn of the Day: ELW 583 Take My Life, That I May Be. Verses 1-3.

Apostle’s Creed: P.127

Prayers of Intercession: Response to Let Us Pray, Hear Us, O God.

Lord’s Prayer: (please note the wording)

Our Father in Heaven hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom Come, your will be done, On Earth as in Heaven.

Give us today our daily bread, forgive us our sins as we forgive, those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours,

Now and forever,

Thanksgiving for the Word

Canticle of Thanksgiving: p.219

Thanksgiving for the Word:

Almighty God,

we thank you for the gift of your holy word.

May it be a lantern to our feet,

a light upon our paths,

and a strength to our lives.

Take us and use us

to love and serve all people

The Word of life which was from the beginning

we proclaim to you.

The darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining;

the Word of life which was from the beginning.

That which we heard, which we saw with our eyes,and touched with our hands,

we proclaim to you.

For our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

          The Word of life, which was from the beginning,

                    we proclaim to you. Amen
