Gathering Hymn: Morning Has Broken #556

1 Morning has broken like the first morning,

blackbird has spoken like the first bird.

Praise for the singing! Praise for the morning!

Praise for them, springing fresh from the Word!

2 Sweet the rain’s new fall sunlit from heaven,

like the first dewfall on the first grass.

Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden,

sprung in completeness where God’s feet pass.

3 Mine is the sunlight! Mine is the morning

born of the one light Eden saw play!

Praise with elation, praise every morning,

God’s recreation of the new day!

Prayer of the Day:

Let us pray together the prayer of the day,

Dear God,

Your mercy delights us, and the world longs for your loving care. Hear the cries of everyone in need and turn our hearts to love our neighbours with the love of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Saviour.

Thanksgiving for the Word:

Almighty God,

we thank you for the gift of your holy word.

May it be a lantern to our feet,

a light upon our paths, and a strength to our lives.

Take us and use us to love and serve all people

The Word of life which was from the beginning

we proclaim to you.

The darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining;

the Word of life which was from the beginning.

That which we heard, which we saw with our eyes,and touched with our hands, we proclaim to you.

For our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

The Word of life, which was from the beginning, we proclaim to you.

Amen

Word

First Reading: Deuteronomy 30:9-14

Response after reading: “Thanks be to God”

Psalm: 25 (Read Responsively)

To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.

Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation;  for you I wait all day long.

Be mindful of your mercy, O Lord, and of your steadfast love, for they have been from of old.

Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions;

Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in the way.

He leads the humble in what is right and teaches the humble his way.

All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his decrees.

Gospel Acclamation: Lord, Let My Heart Be Good Soil ELW #512

Lord, let my heart be good soil, open to the seed of your word.

Lord, let my heart be good soil, where love can grow and peace is understood.

When my heart is hard, break the stone away.

When my heart is cold, warm it with the day.

When my heart is lost, lead me on your way.

Lord let my heart, lord let my heart, lord let my heart, be good soil.

Gospel: Luke 10:25-37

the neighbors we have from you.                                                                                          1 Kneels at the feet of his friends, silently washes their feet,
master who acts as a slave to them. [Refrain]                                                                  2 Neighbors are wealthy and poor, varied in color and race,
neighbors are nearby and far away. [Refrain]

3 These are the ones we will serve, these are the ones we will love;
all these are neighbors to us and you. [Refrain]                                                                         4 Kneel at the feet of our friends, silently washing their feet:
this is the way we will live with you. [Refrain]

Apostle’s Creed:

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead.

On the third day, he rose again;

he ascended into heaven,

he is seated at the right hand of the Father,

and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.  Amen

Prayers of Intercession: Let us Pray – Response: Hear us, O God.

Lord’s Prayer:

We pray together as Jesus taught us, the words may be found in your bulletin

Our Father in Heaven hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom Come, your will be done, On Earth as in Heaven.

Give us today our daily bread, forgive us our sins as we forgive, those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours,

Now and forever,

Amen.
