Dear Members and Friends of Faith:
On March 21, 1960 authorities in South Africa killed 69 people who were publicly protesting the apartheid pass laws of their government. This continues to be remembered today as International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Our National Bishop, together with the national bishops of the Anglican Church of Canada, Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, and the Episcopal Church of the United States, recently published a joint statement encouraging us in our observance of this day. (For more information, go here: https://www.elcic.ca/news.cfm?article=594)
Part of our worship service tomorrow will focus on the hopes of the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. In light of the recent mass shooting in the U.S. that seems to have targeted Asians, and increased reports of violence towards those of Asian descent around the world, this seems especially appropriate right now.
Attached is a printable order of worship for tomorrow. I hope you will join us for our livestream broadcast at 10 AM. Remember to have same bread, and maybe some wine, ready to go as we celebrate Holy Communion as part of the service.
Peace,
Pastor Brian
