God of the way,
Ruler of all hearts, you call our names and favour us with true freedom.
May your spirits presence be with us always so that we may leave behind all that hinders us and follow steadfastly along your paths.

First Reading: Galatians 5:1,13-18 Bill Neeb
Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you.
13-15 It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows. For everything we know about God’s Word is summed up in a single sentence: Love others as you love yourself. That’s an act of true freedom. If you bite and ravage each other, watch out—in no time at all you will be annihilating each other, and where will your precious freedom be then?
16-18 My counsel is this: Live freely, animated and motivated by God’s Spirit. Then you won’t feed the compulsions of selfishness. For there is a root of sinful self-interest in us that is at odds with a free spirit, just as the free spirit is incompatible with selfishness. These two ways of life are contrary to each other, so that you cannot live at times one way and at times another way according to how you feel on any given day. Why don’t you choose to be led by the Spirit and so escape the erratic compulsions of a law-dominated existence?

When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. And he sent messengers ahead of him. On their way they entered a village of the Samaritans to prepare for his arrival, but they did not receive him because his face was set toward Jerusalem. When his disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do you want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” But he turned and rebuked them. Then they went on to another village.
As they were going along the road, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head” To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” And Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” Another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.” And Jesus said to him, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Prayers of Intercession: Jane Weeden
Gathered into one, we pray for creation, the community of believers and the whole world.
We pray for the well-being of creation. For mountains and lakes, for fields and forests, and for plants and animals, that God lift up good stewards to care for the Entire Earth.
Let us pray. Have mercy O God.
We pray for the church throughout the world, all Jesus-followers, and livers of the Gospel. We pray for all who sing praise that through the gifts of faith and grace, we may spread love.
Let us pray. Have mercy O God.
We pray for all nations and their rulers, for aid workers and for people in war-torn Areas. We pray for those who are living in places of social or political conflict and For people in the LGBTQ+ community who live in nations in which their lives are Endangered.
Let us pray. Have mercy O God.
We pray for all who cry out in need: those who are hungry, the oppressed and Downtrodden, those who are grieving or who are sick. We pray especially for Jennifer, Patty, Bill, Grace, Maya, Stephen, Eberhard, John, Miranda, Marlene and Ruby, Norman, Kirsti, Gladys and Inge….. That all may know God’s comforting presence.
Let us pray. Have mercy O God.
Merciful God, you hear the prayers of your people even before they are spoken, We commend these and all our prayers to you, trusting in your gift of grace. Through Jesus Christ,

TIME CHANGE FOR SUNDAY SERVICES: Beginning on Sunday September 11, 2022, our Service will begin at 10:30 am as voted on at the recent Congregational meeting.
SUMMER WORSHIP SERVICES
- Sunday July 3 through Sunday September 4
- Worship in the basement (Luther Hall) at 10 am as in previous years
- Air conditioning and Air Purifier in use
- Masking will become optional
- Self-distancing will be up to individuals
- Social hour following the service
