Dear Members and Friends of Faith:
This is going to be one of those especially fun and very active Sundays at church this week!
- The Giving Tree – This is an opportunity to make a special offering during thistime of year that goes beyond ourselves and our own congregation. Thethree areas to direct gifts for The Giving Tree this year are: Benevolence(support for the wider church through the Eastern Synod); and/or FaithLutheran Food Pantry; or and/or Canadian Lutheran World Relief. Special envelopes have been prepared for this and will be available onSunday. Please mark your name, envelop number, and check off one or moreof the three areas to which you would like to designate this offering. You will be invited to bring your envelop forward to hang on the tree after theregular offering has been collected.
- Advent Lessons and Carols – This Sunday we will forgo the sermon and allow thegospel to be proclaimed to us through beautiful Advent readings, reflections,and hymns. Special thanks to so many of our youth who will be reading thelessons. We will still be lighting the Advent Wreath and sharing HolyCommunion together.
- Gingerbread Houses in Support of our Youth – Everyone is invited to Coffee Hour afterworship on Sunday where youth will be selling gingerbread houses and cookies asa fundraiser for our youth programmes.
- Christmas Carolling – We have appointments at a couple of the long-term care homes,where some of our members live, to sing Christmas Carols on Sundayafternoon. If you would like to join us, please bring a brown-bag lunch,and then we’ll organize ourselves making sure everyone has a ride to thehomes. No formal training required, just a love of neighbour and a loveof singing Christmas carols. I hope you can join us!
